2014 cla [250](/topics-250/) 4 magic is driving more sluggish than normal ..had a Mercedes dealership look at it about 3 days ago for an overheating issue and they said they drove fo 2 hrs after repair and everything seemed fine while driving it.. but I notice my car doesn’t coast as well as before ..as soon as I let the gas go it’s almost like I’m slightly pressing the brake. instead of my car coasting normally it’s slows down gradually quicker now

Hi! My name is AutoDoc1. What’s your name? I’m sorry that you’re having trouble with your vehicle but don’t worry though, we’ll be able to figure this out. Please understand that I do not know your knowledge or capabilities so I **may** need to ask questions to find out basic information to help solve your specific problem. Sometimes I have to look up some information so it may take a moment to respond. I appreciate your patience. The system will give you an automated phone call offer to speak to one of us on the phone **. It is optional.** Some folks prefer to talk on the phone. If you don’t, please ignore it as I cannot control the offer from popping up. There are many possible causes for this problem. It could be faulty wiring, ignition system fault, module fault, fuel system problem, engine sensor failure, etc. To determine the problem you would need to use a scan tool that can read engine data and record data so you can see what specifically is happening. Is the fuel trim off?, is the crankshaft sensor signal gone?, etc. This would be the only way to figure it out. Without testing I would suspect that you are losing fuel pressure either because of a bad fuel pump or a problem with the wiring/module fault. If the check engine light is on, that would help out a lot because it could identify a specific fault. You would need to have the computer scanned to get the trouble codes stored in the module. If you can give me these codes, I would be able to pinpoint a specific cause for this problem.

There are no codes ..they scanned it twice when they fixed the thermostat issue I was having and nothing ...I have no lights on in the dash

Ok then it may be an internal mechanical [transmission](/topics-transmission/) problem. Did they test it?

I guess I’m just stumped bc If they had a mechanic test drive it, why wouldn’t he feel the same thing I’m feeling when I drive it?
Automotive Expert
I'm not sure about the test drive scenario. I would try getting them to test drive it with you in the vehicle.

When you say a mechanical transmission issue? As a Mercedes mechanic wouldnt they at least have the responsibility of telling me the car is running sluggish bc of said reason?what exactly could the internal issue be?
Automotive Expert
Yes I would say they would. I'm not sure why they wouldn't address it for you. It could be a problem with it shifting correctly. If it's in a lower gear, it would not coast well. It also may be a fuel pressure issue.

Ok .. I know there’s not much that can be done without someone looking at it, I’m just afraid I’m going to get another diagnostics charge of $200 and they still won’t find the issue
Automotive Expert
Yes I understand. Since it was just repaired a few days ago, they should let a technician drive around with you to see if the problem is related to the initial repair.
