Q: I keep burning alternators what could be the problem

I burned up 4 alternators what could be the problem

My car has 174000 miles.
My car has an automatic transmission.

It is possible that one or two of them were just bad as a new part as most alternators are remanufactured rather than brand new. I would also double check the workmanship performed on the vehicle. If you have the alternator is replaced by a shop, I would recommend Consulting with them about a warranty claim regarding your alternator since so many of them have failed in a short time. It is possible that something could have been installed incorrectly that is causing premature alternator failure.
