Q: Enabling the park aid

asked by on January 12, 2017

How do I turn on the park aid?
My car has an automatic transmission.

The park assist feature on your vehicle is actuated by putting the gear shift into reverse. It is comprised of a speaker, the sensors, and the park assist module. The module will call for an alert sound when there is an obstruction behind the vehicle when moving in reverse, at less than 3 miles per hour. The system is not designed to give any intuitive suggestions on how to park, just a warning that there may be something behind you when backing up. If no tone is being received, there may be a problem with the speaker, and need to be serviced. If you feel you need to have the system looked at, contact a certified mechanic, like those available at YourMechanic.com.

If the engine cranks at adequate RPM, be sure there is adequate fuel in the fuel tank and that the fuel is not old. Download any OBD-II trouble codes that have been stored and examine those codes for diagnostic clues....
