Variable Valve Timing (VVT) Solenoid Replacement $123.52 - $539.96 Get a Quote

The P0025 code is telling you that the exhaust camshaft timing is running late. This is not necessarily a sensor issue, but more likely a mechanical one. The variable camshaft timing is controlled by a hydraulic device that is part of the camshaft drive sprocket. It uses engine oil pressure to control the advance or retard of the camshaft and is controlled by the VCT Solenoid. If you are lucky, the VCT solenoid is not working, that isn’t very bad to replace. Another strong possibility is that the VCT device is gummed up and sticking. It has some very tight clearances and small orifices in it, so if the engine oil is not kept perfectly clean, or of the correct viscosity it gums up easily. Sometimes you can correct this with an oil change, otherwise about the only thing to be done is to take it apart and clean it out. If you contact Your Mechanic, they can send a technician to your home or office to check out your VCT system and tell you what it’s going to take to fix it.

Engine light on and vibration

The cause is more likely to be in engine related controls or sensors but nothing can be ruled out until an actual and thorough diagnostic is performed. Inasmuch as the check engine light came on, there will be critical clues...

My 2007 Buick Rendezvous' Transmission Shift Lever is stuck in R for reverse.

Hi Gerry. Quite often, the main reason why the gear shifter will become stuck in reverse is due to one of three things. First, the brake switch might be stuck or damaged. Second, the ignition key cylinder itself might be...

Will a sticking valve burn out my variable valve timing solenoid?

Hi there. Typically a sticking valve does not cause the VVT solenoid to fail, but it can increase vacuum pressure inside the motor that will lead to other timing related issues, which can trigger the same error codes. Anytime...

Where is the starter located on my 2007 Mitsubishi raider?

Do its fuel injectors need to be cleaned and if they do, is there an effective way to clean them without removing them??

Hi there. This could be a faulty MAF (mass air flow sensor), which regulates the air going into the engine allowing for the proper air/fuel mixture. This could also be related to the idle air control module. This also helps...

Hello I have a 2001 Montero sport 3.0 that died and tries to start but won't acts like it's way out of time. Would a bad CPS cause this problem?

Hi there. A crankshaft position sensor will cause the engine to not start if the sensor has failed. The crankshaft position sensor is designed to tell the ECM (computer) when the cylinder number one is at top dead center and...

The cooling mood on my 2007 chevy cobalt came on out of nowhere. I had a guy pour antifreeze in and it was okay until yesterday.

Hi there. Check the coolant level to see if there is any coolant in the radiator. If there is no coolant in the radiator, then fill up the radiator with water and perform a pressure test. Check to see where...

Slow leak on left side of the radiator, no heat

The radiator leaking coolant would be the the most important leak to repair first. The thermostat can be checked by watching the temperature on the gauge to see if the temperature gets up near the middle of the gauge and...
