Q: Car shut off when driving jumped and then would not keep charge so wouldnt start could it be alternator

In all likelihood, the alternator may be bad. The function of the battery is to start the vehicle. Once running, the alternator provides power for all the electrical needs of the vehicle. If the alternator fails to provide power, then the electrical demands will be met by draining the battery. Once the battery is drained, the vehicle will stop running. Have the charging system checked and replace the alternator if needed. If the battery is good, it will recharge once the alternator is replaced and will not require replacement.
