Q: Car idles low after running, not the same amount of power, I suspect a bad vacuum hose.

asked by on December 14, 2017

After running the car and it warms up the rpm goes below 600 in drive, when I slightly press the gas obviously the rpm will rise then it drops really low and the engine struggles a bit and sometimes almost dies. I can feel less power when I accelerate as well. Im thinking it's a bad vacuum hose and I'd like a quote if possible asap. Thank you.

You will need to have the computer scanned for codes to see if there is a problem with the idle control valve or engine has a vacuum leak. There is a standard diagnosis that will need to be done and in most cases is 1 ot 2 hours. Contact the customer service line to get confirmed pricing for your area and set appointment.

Belt squeaking.
A stretched belt or a faulty belt tensioner are the most likely causes. I would recommend having the tensioner checked (https://www.yourmechanic.com/services/loud-squealing-or-squeaking-is-coming-from-timing-belt-inspection) first by a YourMechanic technician. If the tensioner seems to be working properly, the belt is the next likely...

Exhaust leak from engine gasket right after catalytic converter keeps blowing out. What needs changing O2 sensor or converter ? 2000 Chevrolet S10
Hello - I suspect that either the flange joint after the converter has a defect (https://www.yourmechanic.com/question/-i-have-replaced-my-exhaust-manifold-a-half-dozen-times-why-is-this-happening-by-stephen-k) that continues to leak, despite new gaskets, or the muffler is stopped up, increasing exhaust pressure on that joint. I recommend an exhaust system...
