Q: Battery discharging while driving - batt. light stays lit

asked by on January 24, 2017

Battery discharging while driving - batt. light stays lit while driving. While driving 2 miles home last night, headlights/interior lights did not seem to be affected. Started this morning just fine, but rolling down window did sound like motor was working hard.

There is a small power-steer-pump leak. Replaced battery about 3 months ago. Replaced serpentine belt about a year ago. I have twisted old wires in trunk hinge. But it seems like an alternator issue. I'd like to schedule a check-up and have alternator replaced if necessary.
My car has an automatic transmission.
