Q: 2005 Chevy impala keeps overheating coolant reservoir full no visible smoke or no check engine light could it be the thermostat?

asked by on December 21, 2017

My car is overheating the check engine light is not on when it overheats I don’t see smoke coming from under hood of car or when I lift the hood car doesn’t take too long to cool down once the engine is off the coolant reservoir is full but overheating continues could it be the radiator or the thermostat??

My car has 156000 miles.
My car has an automatic transmission.

You may have a stuck thermostat or cooling fan is not working. i suggest having the computer tested for codes stored and cooling system checked for fan operation when running hot. If fan is on when running hot then you may have a stuck closed thermostat or a water pump not pumping coolant. Have a mechanic like one from YourMechanic come and check the systems out for you.

Hi there. If the engine will not crank then the starter circuit (https://www.yourmechanic.com/article/symptoms-of-a-bad-or-failing-starter-relay) needs to be tested to see if there is a wiring issue. If it is cranking and not starting then the computer needs to be checked with...
i dont know how often i have to change the transmission fluids.
If you want to continue to change transmission fluid (https://www.yourmechanic.com/article/how-often-do-i-need-to-replace-the-transmission-fluid) on a regular basis then you can do it every 30,000 miles or 3 years. This is a good timing since you did it 1 1/2 years ago, you have...

I have a 2011 ford focus just replaced the roll pin inside the manual transmission. dropped a head of a bolt inside cant get out
The "technique to get it out" depends on exactly where it is. There is sometimes a possibility of a foreign item safely staying in place but admittedly in a transmission that is a speculative proposition. At any rate, there are...
My Mercedes-Benz Clk320 is vibrating and shaking and and won't accelerate even when the pedal is to the floor what do I do?
It sound like you are losing fuel pressure but you should have the pressure tested and the computer tested for any stored codes. If codes are stored then have the codes diagnosed as needed.
