What does the seat belt reminder mean?

If either front occupant is not wearing their seat belt, the seat belt reminder will alert. The seat belt reminder is a light that will illuminate on your instrument panel, as well as a beep that will sound. Both of these indicators will remain on until the unfastened seat belt is buckled. Tip The seat belt reminder monitors the front passenger seat with a weight sensor, so it will only give you an alert if a person large enough to trigger the sensor is in the seat. If a dog or a heavy object is located in the passenger seat and causing the seat belt reminder to come on, either move the object, or buckle the seat belt over it.
