Q: My key will not turn all the way to get it out

asked by on January 18, 2018

Aometimes my car key wont turn all the way to start the car and sometimes it wont turn all the way so that I can get it out. It gets stuck. I tried everything that I got from YouTube

My car has 189000 miles.
My car has an automatic transmission.

I’ll bet you need a new ignition lock. In some cases that will mean replacing a whole lock assembly, and in others it will just mean replacing a lock cylinder. That will mean a new key, so if you want to still be able to open your car and start it with the same key, that will mean ordering a lock from the Honda dealer using the VIN of your car. But before you buy anything, you should have it checked out to be sure you are buying what you need. You can have that conveniently done by contacting YourMechanic. They can send a technician to your home or office to check out your problem with your key and let you know what it is going to take.
