Q: Hello. I have a 2001 Ford escape XLT 3.0. It has been sitting for almost 4 years with the thought of having a blown head gasket.

asked by on March 09, 2017

Vehicle has been sitting almost 3 years with what was diagnosed to new blown head gasket. After a another opinion, it was discovered that the serpentine belt to the water pump had snapped. Once replaced, car turned over and driven about 8 miles totally, very roughly at best. Subsequently, it would turn over briefly and the die. Now will not turn over at all though cranking very hard. ( repl aced battery). Also replaced sparkplug, oil, transmission fluid, radiator fluid and ECM. Unfortunately, did not drain old gas which was less than a quarter tank full. Added fresh gas. ( big mistake as I look bac.) Checked the inertia switch to determine if tripped but was not. Also reached the fuel pump and can hear it engage when ignition switch engaged. Checked fuse relay underror hood and does seem blown. Used starter fluid but still won'the turn over. What might be the cause of not turning over? Thanks!

My car has 170000 miles.

Truck stalled and won't turn over.
This sounds to me like a classic fuel pump failure, I would have a certified mechanic inspect (https://www.yourmechanic.com/services/car-is-stalling-inspection) your fuel pressure. If the fuel pump is fine, check for voltage at the fuel pump relay. If these aren't the problem...

Yes, you are correct - the P0325 (https://www.yourmechanic.com/article/p0325-obd-ii-trouble-code-knock-sensor-malfunction-sensor-1-bank-1-by-spencer-clayton) is indicative of a failed knock sensor (or the knock sensor wiring). Can a bad tensioner cause my vehicle to lose acceleration and turn off?
Hi Brandon. Typically a damaged belt tensioner will not impact vehicle performance. It would cause the serpentine or drive belt to wear prematurely or to squeak - but not cause the acceleration issue. On your list of items replaced, I...
