Most possible cause of check engine light

My car has 6500 miles.
My car has an automatic transmission.

Hi There, This light indicates that there is likely something wrong with the engine or transmission in your vehicle. It is important to have this diagnosed as soon as possible as it could range from something minor to something more serious. Unfortunately, there are many different reasons for this light to come on and the best way to diagnose is to have the vehicle hooked up to a scanner which will download the engine fault codes indicating more specifically what may be wrong. I would recommend having an expert from YourMechanic come to your location to diagnose and inspect your vehicle.

My car accelerates slowly when first taking off and jumps when it shifts gears. What could it be?

When car is running I can put it into gear without pushing the clutch peddle down but it doesn't engage 1988 Mitsubishi
Hello - there are 2 possibilities here: the first, and the one you hope for, is that the shift linkage has failed (most likely shifter cables (https://www.yourmechanic.com/article/3-essential-things-to-know-about-your-car-s-gear-shifter)), and you are not actually selecting a gear in the transmission although it...
Check engine light is on. I took it to AutoZone and told me it is the code P0401. Is it safe to drive until next week?
Hi There, Code P0401 relates to the EGR valve flow. When this code is triggered, the computer has detected that the flow is insufficient. Driving the car until next week will not cause any harm, although the vehicle may not...
