Q: Car is leaking coolant and overheating

asked by on July 12, 2016

My car has been overheating and leaking coolant and was steaming and smoking from the drivers side behind the front light. I am not sure if it is a radiator leak, I scheduled a radiator repair with you guys in a couple of days but not sure if that is exactly the issue. Could someone please give me some advice ?

My car has 88000 miles.
My car has an automatic transmission.

You should not let the engine ever run low on coolant. When you get the system checked the mechanic will pressure test the cooling system and locate the leak or problem for you. You should not have a hot engine before the mechanic comes and checks the car for you. This way they can diagnose the system without getting burned by hot coolant.

Getting a Check Engine code P0320.
This code signifies that the engine speed circuit for the ignition system is having a fault. I would recommend that you have this diagnosed by an experienced mechanic (https://www.yourmechanic.com/services/check-engine-light-is-on-inspection), like the one at YourMechanic, so they can find and correct...

Car cannot shift gears while idling in traffic
I'm assuming you are talking about standard transmission. If that's the case, either your clutch slave cylinder (https://www.yourmechanic.com/article/symptoms-of-a-bad-or-failing-clutch-slave-cylinder) or master cylinder is going out. Check to see if it is leaking any fluid and check if it feels mushy. If...

Hearing a knocking/popping sound somewhere in the front of the car when driving.
There could be multiple issues causing the mystery sound you're hearing on your 2005 Mazda. My first inclination would be to check the steering stabilizer bar bushings (https://www.yourmechanic.com/services/stabilizer-bar-bushings-replacement), but if those were replaced, it could be an issue with your...
