Q: Is my 1999 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo AWD or 2WD?

asked by on November 29, 2016

I have a 99 jeep grand Cherokee Laredo my parents bought it used, I do not know if it is 2WD, AWD, FWD, RWD, or 4WD. I do not have the 4WD option in the interior and it is dark outside so I cannot go check under my car to look at the axels.

My car has 225000 miles.
My car has an automatic transmission.

Hi there:

It’s difficult to tell you whether you’re Jeep Grand Cherokee is 4WD, AWD or 2WD as we don’t have access to the vehicle, the VIN number or your registration. The best thing you could do to determine whether you’re vehicle is AWD or 2WD; contact the local dealership and speak with the service department. Give them your VIN number and they’ll be able to tell you.

The statements expressed above are only for informational purposes and should be independently verified. Please see our terms of service for more details

Should I get the piston rings replaced or just swap the entire engine?
First off, if it isn't smoking (https://www.yourmechanic.com/services/smoke-from-engine-or-exhaust-inspection), it probably isn't burning all that oil. A quart a week is four quarts a month and about 1000-2000 miles. That's a lot of oil. It is most likely a combination of leaking...
My car is shaking, mostly only when idling and the engine light is on. What is a common cause of this?
The best way to find out what is wrong is to have the system scanned for fault codes. The check engine light being on means a code, or multiple codes, have been stored. Unfortunately there is no "common" reason for...

My car needs a throttle body cleaning, but I'm worried about the idle and relearning process
Hi there. This is a very good question that I wish more people would ask. Your 2006 Pathfinder's engine control unit (ECU) does evolve and learn as it goes.
