Q: Interior trunk release won't open trunk.

asked by on

Interior trunk release will not open trunk.

My car has 50000 miles.
My car has an automatic transmission.

Hello, thank you for writing in. The vehicle uses an electric trunk release, and is likely having an electrical issue. There is a fuse to check and make sure it is good. After that you are in a position to check the release mechanism to make sure it is in good condition. Check it for signs of damages, a poor electrical connection, and if you have a voltmeter you will want to check for voltage when the button is pressed. If there is voltage available to the locking mechanism, then your switch and electrical wiring is fine. The locking unit itself will need to be replaced. If the voltage is not available, then the switch or wiring is faulty. Only further electrical testing will tell. For more diagnostic help, contact our service department to schedule an appointment.
