Q: Car not starting when key turned

asked by on

My car will not start. When I turn the key, I get no response. The lights do not come on and the car is totally dead.

A battery starting charging system test should be performed by a qualified technician like the ones here at YourMechanic in order to see whether your battery has failed or if the problem is with a different system. Other issues such as lack of air, fuel, spark, our mechanical failure could also keep the vehicle from starting but there would be power to everything.
