What is the Fuse all about?

Fuses, found in the fuse box, are low-resistance resistor devices that protect the circuits in the car from excessive current. Fuses are made to blow if the circuit gets more current than it is supposed to, protecting the circuit from the high current flow. There can be multiple fuses in multiple locations. The fuses should always be replaced with the specified fuse. All fuses come with the “AMP” value written on top of it. The fuse box will specify the correct value of fuse required.

Keep in mind:

If a fuse blows, is replaced, and then blows again, it indicates a problem with the electrical system. Something is causing the overload. Be sure to have the car inspected.

How it's done:

  • Test fuses using a test lamp.
  • Remove and replace the faulty fuse.
  • Inspect fuse block for corrosion or melted holders.

Our recommendation:

Any time an electrical component of your vehicle stops working, you should schedule an inspection. There’s no way to perform regular maintenance on fuses, but they’re a straightforward and affordable repair when you notice that one is blown.

What common symptoms indicate you may need to replace the Fuse?

  • One or more electrical components are not working (lights, radio, etc.)

How important is this service?

Fuses are resistors that send power to the electrical components of your car. Fuses receive a large amount of current, and lessen that amount of current before it is sent to each electrical part, so that the electrical components aren’t damaged by excessive power. When a fuse blows, electrical power will be not flow through it, and certain parts of your car will stop working. A blown fuse is unlikely to cause any damage to your vehicle, but the electrical components that rely on that fuse won’t resume working until the fuse is replaced.

Theodore did a great job with my BMW. He changed the front brakes (pads and rotors), brake fluid flush, and oil change. He was on time, and did an excellent job. I'd definitely recommend Theodore and I will continue to give him my business in the future.

Mechanic did the job that was request. The problem has to do with the final price. I originally got a quote on the web for $199.67 and since this is my first time I wasn't sure if I wanted to go through with this so I called the 800# to get additional information and they said I will get 10% off if I book with them while on the phone with the same quote I got the web so it would be 180.67 to replace ignition engine coil. But once the job was done, I got a final bill for $215.25 When I called the 800# to get an explanation of the bill, they said the quote on the job was $235 and with the 10% discount came to $215.25 It's odd that the quote became $235 when it was $180.67. Clearly this is bait and switch to increase the final quote so with the so called 10% discount came to the same amount as the quote I got on the internet. The 800 # representative tried to explain that their was check engine light check that was done which was $99. If that was the case the bill should have been $324 so that explanation made so sense. Furthermore, if that was the case, they needed to give me a new pricing quote and let me know the new price for me to authorize and agree on the price. That never happened so I know the phone reps explanation was totally made up. The mechanic was knowledgeable and did the job well. The company tactics are questionable and I would never use this company as this was clear marketing and bait and switch approach. Make sure you get the final quote before any service is performed so you don't get nay surprise with the final bill that is different than what was promised.
