How to Buy a Good Quality Throttle

Good Quality Throttle

The throttle can be explained as the part of the car that makes the engine actually go. As you press down on your car's gas pedal the throttle opens up more and more, allowing your car to move faster and faster. The throttle is what determines how much air is allowed into the engine. There are two types of cars, which are fuel injected and carbureted, and both require a throttle. The throttles perform the same job in each type of car.

From time to time it may be necessary to actually replace your throttle. The problem is that sometimes debris and dirt can work its way into the throttle valve, which of course can lead to problems. It may be that the valve is no longer able to open properly, which then affects the amount of air passing through. For this reason it’s always a good idea to have your throttle checked on a regular basis, approximately every 30,000 miles.

Here are some things to consider when making your decision to buy a quality throttle:

  • Refer to owners manual: If you need to purchase a new throttle begin by referring to your owner's’ manual to see what kind your car uses.

  • Quality and warranty: Look for a throttle that uses high quality parts, and is backed up with a warranty. You want it to last as long as possible.

  • Buy new: Never settle for a used throttle, as it could fail at any time since it takes a lot of wear and tear.
