What is cleaning the throttle body all about?

In order to run efficiently and smoothly, your vehicle needs a fuel mixture that is a perfect combination of air and gas. The air intake system is responsible for providing the air part of this equation. The throttle body is the component of the air intake system that determines exactly how much air to let combine with the fuel. When the throttle body is dirty it’s unable to let the right amount of air into the engine.

Take the snorkle off the throttle body
Spray brake cleaner on the throttle plate
Scrub plate with a brush
Spray the brake cleaner again
Reconnect snorkle

Ben was great - very friendly, and clearly knew what he was doing. I have nothing negative to say other than being significantly late relative to the appointment window (9-10 am appt. versus 12 pm arrival), which was ironically a result of car trouble. The scheduling process through the yourmechanic.com website was very easy, and I really liked the way the work was documented via picture and audio by Ben. When finished - Ben kept out the old parts for my review, and he discussed everything he did during the work. It was super convenient to have the work done at my residence, and I have a sense of comfort with the 12-month warranty and BBB accreditation - hopefully something that will never need to be tested. I felt that the pricing was competitive, especially when considering the convenience of having the mechanic come to me.
