Q: My heater turns on by it self and goes on high i can't get it to stop

My cars heater is turning on by itself. When I turn it off it turns back on And goes to high. The settings will not stay on low. It won't allow me to turn on the air or anything.

My car has 180000 miles.
My car has an automatic transmission.
