Fuel Pump Replacement Service & Cost

What is the Fuel Pump all about?

The fuel pump's sole purpose is to take fuel from the fuel tank and deliver it according to the demand of the engine. When the fuel pump is working effectively, the car runs smoothly.

Keep in mind:

Before replacing the pump, first be sure that filters, fuel pickups, fuel pump relays, and electrical connectors are in good working order. A clogged fuel filter, for instance, can restrict flow and cause some of the same symptoms.

How it's done:

  • Inspect fuel pump and fuel pump relay.
  • Remove and replace fuel pump if faulty.
  • Inspect car for any signs of leakage.
  • Clear Check Engine light codes.
  • Perform basic safety inspection.
  • Test drive car.

Our recommendation:

Keep at least 1/4 tank of gas in your car at all times. Low fuel essentially makes the pump work harder and will contribute to its failure.

What common symptoms indicate you may need to replace the Fuel Pump?

  • Car hesitates to start.
  • Loss of power or “bucking” when accelerating.
  • Excessive whining sound.
  • Check Engine light is on.

How important is this service?

Your engine needs gas to run. The gas, however, is stored in the gas tank, not in the engine. When the engine needs more fuel, the fuel pump is responsible for pumping the gas from the tank to the engine, where it is used to power the vehicle. As the fuel pump deteriorates, it will be less and less efficient at pumping gas to the engine, and your vehicle will have a harder time running. When the fuel pump completely dies, it will be unable to pump gas to your engine, and your car won’t run.

Fast and easy Fuel Pump Replacement service at your home or office.

I wish I could give 10 stars but unfortunately five is the most that I can give. I want to say Ben is excellent!!!!! I highly recommend him for any mechanic job that you have. I had to have a fuel pump replaced and he was prompt, courteous and certainly knowledgeable and my car is up and running. I am so thankful and grateful for Ben and I would definitely use him for all future mechanical issues that I have with my cars.

What a great experience ... took a shot on an at-home repair job(s), and I will absolutely do this for all my future diagnostic/repair needs (assuming I don't need anything big like a tranny/engine replacement). Chet was a great guy, knew his stuff, solved problems that popped up, and had all the necessary tools to get the jobs done. Most importantly, he didn't mind me watching/helping which was important for me as I like to learn stuff and get my hands dirty. I'm pretty confident that I would have paid a lot more for a fuel pump replacement and all-around brake job at a shop, plus not having to screw around with tow trucks and travel too/from shop (vehicle was dead). Also, you can save a lot of money if you shop around for your own parts but they just won't warrant them (understandably, but I felt like that was a low-risk chance to take). Funny thing, I hope I won't need Chet's services again, but you can be assured I would call on him when I do!

My entire visit with Rodney was a delight. He was warm in his greeting and very pleasant throughout the repair. He even explained the steps he was taking, when I asked. Rodney is a true professional that knows what he is doing, and has to do. Dwight M
