Richard was very polite, knowledgeable, and helpful. He did a great job and explained everything he did. Even more impressive was what he didn't do! Previously we had been told by another garage that the car was a goner, dangerous to drive, and not worth fixing--basically, that it was time to retire it. Richard assured us that with only 135,000 miles the car still had life in it and was safe to drive until parts could be ordered. And the repairs were much less extensive and less expensive than anticipated. The whole experience was better than I expected. I will be telling everyone I know about Richard and YourMechanic.com.

All about Ignition Coil Replacement

Ignition coils transform low voltage electrical power 12 volts D.C. to high voltage current 50,000 volts D.C. or higher. The spark generated by the ignition coil ignites the fuel and air mixture in the engine that enables the car to start and run smoothly. If an ignition coil is not working properly, no spark will ignite the air fuel mixture, causing a misfire. A bad ignition coil can severely damage the engine or catalytic converter. If your car is equipped with “coil over plugs,” then it is recommended that you replace the spark plugs. If your car uses a single coil for the ignition system, it is not necessary to change the spark plugs.
