What is the Oil Cooler Hose (Automatic Transmission) all about?

The oil cooler hose is responsible for keeping the transmission and engine oil from overheating. The hose runs from the radiator to the transmission and the engine. The oil that is used to lubricate the engine and transmission circulates through the oil cooler hose to the radiator, where it is cooled down. The keeps the oil from overheating and damaging the engine and transmission.

Keep in mind:

Any time the oil cooler hose is replaced, the oil cooler pump should be inspected as well.

How it's done:

  • Inspect for oil leaks
  • Inspect the oil cooler hoses
  • Replace oil cooler hose assembly
  • Check for leaks

Our recommendation:

Your oil cooler system should be inspected during all routine maintenance and servicing. It’s also a good idea to have your oil cooler system inspected every time your oil is changed.

What common symptoms indicate you may need to replace the Oil Cooler Hose (Automatic Transmission)?

  • Oil is leaking

How important is this service?

Your oil cooler system is responsible for cooling the oil in your engine and transmission. The oil circulates through the oil cooler hose and to the radiator, where the oil is cooled before returning to the engine and transmission. This oil is needed to keep the engine well lubricated. When the oil cooler hose breaks, oil will leak out of the hose, and will be removed from the system. The engine and transmission won’t have the lubrication they need, which can be harmful to both systems, and will likely cause overheating.

Nicholass showed up right on time and was very professional. He replaced my hydraulic clutch line in the time he estimated and everything worked great. It was a much better experience than having it towed into the shop for the repairs. Nicholas is a very skilled and professional mechanic. I'd certainly request him again.

Chevrolet K1500 V8-5.7L - ignition control module - Berkeley Heights, New Jersey
I' m, not a happy camper! Again after Todays service changing another part but my truck still dose not start! Attila. This YM mechanic, put in the ignition control module but my truck still does not start! he said he did a curtsies' diagnostic of the ignition power wiring and he said the wiring was good power with signal and ground from key switch to ignition coil but my truck still does not start! I can't keep paying Your Mechanic for work that was not properly diagnosed with no positive results and I lost use of my truck since this whole repair scenario started with our mechanic. If this simple repair is m not corrected in the next 3 days I will have no choice but to hire a competent local shop to tow my pick up truck to there shop and make the necessary repairs and back charge Your mechanic for the difference in costs to properly repair my pick up truck and return it to me in running condition..
