Assuming the linkage between the throttle pedal and the engine is unobstructed (something you can check visually by checking around the gas pedal or floor mat for foreign objects that may be obstructing the path of the gas pedal), a sticky gas pedal is almost always due to accumulation of unwanted goo at the throttle body. This makes the action of opening and closing the throttle a notchy, imprecise operation.

Common reasons for this to happen:

  • Throttle body is stuck
  • Gas pedal sensor malfunction
  • Accelerator cable broken
  • Accelerator pedal return spring broken

What to expect:

A top-rated mobile mechanic will come to your home or office to determine the cause of the stuck gas pedal, and will then provide a detailed inspection report that includes the scope and cost of the necessary repairs.

How important is this service?

A stuck gas pedal presents a potentially dangerous situation and should be inspected by a professional mechanic as soon as possible.

Acura RSX L4-2.0L - Heater Blower Motor Resistor - Palo Alto, California
Honorio did a good job diagnosing and fixing the problem (blower motor resistor). He had to come back the next day with the part, but it just took him a few minutes to put it in. He wasn't able to fully diagnose the other problem with the check engine light (VTEC error) but he showed me what it could with the equipment he had. Definitely a viable alternative to traditional auto service shops.
