The Ford Taurus received something of a revival over the past several years, and it has become one of the family sedan staples in the United States. It’s a beautiful and bold looking vehicle that offers a wealth of features. It offers size, power and equipment that help to put it in a category above many of the other similar vehicles in its class.
The vehicle features Miko Seude seats, which are very comfortable, along with MyKey, which allows the driver to control the speed of the vehicle, the audio controls, and more. Ultimately, it can give parents more control over their children’s driving habits.
Changes for 2012
While many of the features are the same as the ones in the previous model years, the 2012 Ford Taurus does offer integrated blind-spot mirrors on all of the side mirrors.
What We Like
One of the nice things about this vehicle is the size. It’s one of the larger sedans on the market, and it offers plenty of interior space for storage. It is a very comfortable ride, which offers excellent handling despite the larger size of the vehicle.
What Concerns Us
The vehicle is a high quality piece of machinery that has few faults. However, as noted below, there are some issues with recalls, along with some other driver complaints that may affect your buying decision.
Several different model types are available for the 2012 Ford Taurus – the SE, SEL (in FWD and AWD), and the Limited (in FWD and AWD).
The 4dr Sedan SE FWD, AWD and Limited are automatic with a V6 3.5L/213 engine, 263@6250 horsepower, 249@4500 3.5L/213 torque, and gets 18 city and 28 highway MPG.
The 4dr Sedan SEL AWD and Limited are automatic with a V6 3.5L/213 engine, 263@6250 horsepower, 249@4500 3.5L/213 torque, and gets 17 city and 25 highway MPG.
Over the years, there have been several recalls for the vehicle for the electric power steering assist, issues with the interior door handle spring becoming unseated, fuel tank leaks at the the seam, and water getting into the lamp plate, which could potentially cause a short circuit or a fire.
While there are no major issues with the vehicle, there have been some issues reported by consumers. Some of the most pressing include issues with the brakes, along with problems with the interior accessories and the paint. These are minor and rare though, and overall, the 2012 Ford Taurus is a quality choice.
