I usually don't go outside the dealership on car maintenance or repair but I thought I'd give Your Mechanic a try. Peter arrived on time. Parts in hand and performed a vehicle inspection. Made me aware of any potential problems that might need some attention. He changed out the Altinator in a timely manner. Started the car. Everything was fine for about 2 minutes then the engine died. Peter went through all the protocols of what could be wrong but couldn't find anything. The only possibility was the just installed rebuilt Altenator was bad. At no extra charge he replaced it with another one. Perfect! Peter really knows his business. Highly recomended.
Peter was very professional and his explanations was great. He's definitely a mechanic I will use again.

The replacement part did not arrive on time. Not Jose’s fault. He called me a few hours later letting me know that he’d received the part and was able to accommodate and perform the work later on the same day.
Great job!

He was early, friendly, efficient and helpful.
The replacement of the specific part i asked to have replaced was done very quickly. Gave me a good idea of what else needed to be done to get the car to start.

Brandon is a friendly and professional person! He replaced the battery and alternator in just 30 minutes. Brandon asked questions about the car like mechanical history, miles and performance to help him decide on the correct fix. And! He did not try to sell me something I didn't need. Brandon has our car back on the road again! My wife will be so happy when she gets home from work to find out her baby is fixed! In the future we will seek out Your Mechanic and Brandon for future maintenance.

Excellent top notch service! Adrián exceeded a 5 star rating. He was courteous, clean, and professional. He has a warm and caring personality as well. He replaced the alternator in my Mitsubishi Montero quickly and noticing the battery wasn't anchored properly, fixed that as well. I highly recommend Adrian!

Alternator Repair Service

How does an alternator help your car run?

The alternator is the component that charges the battery in your car. When you use electrical components in your car (stereo, lights, etc.), the battery loses power. The alternator recharges the battery, replenishing the lost battery power. The alternator is located in the engine compartment. If the alternator is not working properly, your car will only stay running for as long as the battery has power stored. Once the battery loses power, your car will not start. Normally, a malfunctioning alternator will turn on the battery warning light or will have a low volt gauge reading.

Alternator

Before repairing the alternator:

The mechanic should check the entire charging system before installing a new alternator, including checking battery cables for corrosion and the condition of the battery.

Steps when replacing an alternator:

  • Inspect entire charging system (battery, cables, alternator).
  • Inspect the drive belts.
  • Test alternator output.
  • Remove and replace alternator if found to be faulty.
  • Re-test alternator output.

Our recommendation for alternator replacements:

Ask your mechanic to inspect the condition of the charging system during every major service. The mechanic should also clean and tighten the battery cables during every major service.

What common symptoms indicate you may need to replace the Alternator?

  • Dead battery or battery will not hold a charge.
  • Dim lights.
  • Battery warning light is on.

Why repairing your alternator is important:

Your alternator charges your battery, which powers the electronics in your vehicle, such as the radio and the air conditioning. The battery is also needed to turn on your vehicle. A malfunctioning alternator will not charge your car’s battery, and your vehicle will eventually run out of battery life and not be able to start.
