Mr. Joe Hough was ahead of time for the schedule appointment. His profile picture should be updated because is actual appearance is not even close to the picture on his profile. As soon as he saw my car, he made the comment that “that all RX8 rotary engine have a common problem” but did not elaborate in what was the problem. He asked me to try to start the car and immediately said “I already know what is the problem”. Joe went back to his truck and came back with a battery charger and tried once again to start the engine, and once again went back to his truck. After 10 minutes came back holding his cell phone, went back to my car and closed the hood. Mr. Hough proceeded to inform me that the engine had loss compression and most likely I needed a new engine. I ask him how he got to that conclusion without using any tools (like an engine compression tester), Joe said that he just listened how the engine sounded. How can you hear the sound of the engine when it will not start? Even more; is he’s hearing calibrated to diagnose (identify) engine problems? Joe never mentioned about the car needing a “Brake System Flush” or “Oil and Filter Change” nevertheless, he wrote that on the website under “Recommended Services”. Also, a full 50-Point inspection was not conducted or the result of such inspection was not explained to me. Very disappointed to see that a mechanic with over 40 years of experience dares to identity an engine problem without using any conventional tools; relaying only on his hearing. The “Car Health” page on the website is a joke, Mr. Joe Hough did not conduct an inspection of the brake pads, rotors, the tires air pressure, the wipers or wiper motor, the cooling system, fluids or anything else for that matter. Unless he did it seating in his truck. I have a witness that was with me the whole 20 minutes that took Mr. Hough from the time he got to my place until he left. What an easy way of making $104.99
