What is cleaning the throttle body all about?

In order to run efficiently and smoothly, your vehicle needs a fuel mixture that is a perfect combination of air and gas. The air intake system is responsible for providing the air part of this equation. The throttle body is the component of the air intake system that determines exactly how much air to let combine with the fuel. When the throttle body is dirty it’s unable to let the right amount of air into the engine.

Keep in mind:

  • The air intake ducts should be examined when the throttle body is cleaned.
  • When the throttle body is cleaned, the entire air intake system should be inspected.

How it's done:

  • Take the snorkle off the throttle body
  • Spray brake cleaner on the throttle plate
  • Scrub plate with a brush
  • Spray the brake cleaner again
  • Reconnect snorkle

I think the service was okay for the price. The price was expensive and I w as told that someone should have come out before to inspect the car but they did not. Therefore, I had to reshedule to get other needed services which are going to cost more money and time for someone to come out again. I would have preferred to get all the services at the same time, but was unable to do that.

Ian showed up early, which was great, (beat the rain). He was very nice, asked if I had any concerns or issues. I told him why I had him come out and he suggested a quick test. Everything was fine, he did the flush. He did an inspection. All looked good. I would recommend Ian to anyone needing service.
