What is the Windshield Wiper Linkage all about?

Windshield wipers give the driver a clear view of the road ahead. In order to clear rain from the windshield effectively, the wipers are synced up to move water off to the sides. How it's done:

  • The vehicle hood is raised and secured in the open position
  • The wiper linkage bolts are loosened and removed.
  • The wiper linkage is removed
  • The new wiper linkage is installed and properly lubricated
  • The wipers are tested for proper operation

I have been looking to various repairs done on my car and searching places I ran across Yoir Mechanic. Yea I have a 2008 Mercury Grand Marquis and I just recently tried 2 turn my car on and it started up until I turned the lights on. Once i turned the lights on, the engine cuts off, but everything stays on like the dashboard, radio, and even the AC. I then tried 2 start her up again and it wouldn't comeback on, all I could really hear is some kind of static everytime I turn the ignition. So I let it sit after a while and instead pumped the accelerator 3 times before turning the car back on and it does just that. But as soon as I again try to turn the light on or use a signal, it immediately cuts off again.
