What is the Gas Cap all about?

The purpose of a Gas Cap is twofold: one, it helps prevent dust and other particles from getting into the gas tank, and two, it helps prevent fuel emissions from entering the atmosphere. If your gas cap is faulty, the Check Engine light may come on. Additionally, your vehicle may fail a smog test if the gas cap is gone or not functioning properly.

How it's done:

  • Inspect the gas cap.
  • Pressure-test the gas cap.
  • Install new gas cap if faulty.

What common symptoms indicate you may need to replace the Gas Cap?

  • Check Engine light is on.
  • Car does not pass the emission test.
  • Gas Cap is missing.

Honda Odyssey V6-3.5L - Car is not starting - Walnut Creek, California
I had my concerns about the results of my car after my first appointment with Carlos but after my follow up appointment with him I have been reassured that he has the best interest of my car in mind. He is knowledgeable, professional, and willing to do what it takes to satisfy his customers. He listened to my concerns, he made me feel like I was part of the plan for a solution, and he went over everything he had in mind before deciding upon a course of action. I am very pleased with his work and hope to continue a professional relationship with him in the future.

Honda Odyssey V6-3.5L - Check Engine Light is on - Elk Grove, California
I was extremely impressed with Kevin. He arrived exactly on time and got right down to diagnosing what was wrong with my car. It needed a modest fix (a replacement ignition coil on one of the cylinders) At no time did I feel pressured by Kevin or in any way did I feel he was doing more than was needed to get my car back on the road. I work from home and only have one car so this was way better than sitting in the dealership waiting while the dollars racked up. I am certain I got my car fixed at a lower price than taking it to Honda and I am more than satisfied with the result. I will use Kevin again without hesitation and will recommend him to family & friends.
