What is the Gas Cap all about?

The purpose of a Gas Cap is twofold: one, it helps prevent dust and other particles from getting into the gas tank, and two, it helps prevent fuel emissions from entering the atmosphere. If your gas cap is faulty, the Check Engine light may come on. Additionally, your vehicle may fail a smog test if the gas cap is gone or not functioning properly.

How it's done:

  • Inspect the gas cap.
  • Pressure-test the gas cap.
  • Install new gas cap if faulty.

What common symptoms indicate you may need to replace the Gas Cap?

  • Check Engine light is on.
  • Car does not pass the emission test.
  • Gas Cap is missing.

Chevrolet Caprice V8-5.0L - Car is overheating - Atlanta, Georgia
As a 1st time user of this sight/service I was not pleased! My appointment was for 11am, but the technician not mechanic, was over an hour late! Then, because the engine in the car is different he really couldn't tell me if I should get the parts to match the engine or the car! Not an happy experience for me. Don't know if I want to use them again or not!

Jose' is excellent. He has the skill to identify the problem and trace it to the source. He is polite, humble, time efficient, and handles the anxious car owner very nicely. We appreciate Jose' , and certainly trust him with our classic car(s). We would ask for him specifically the next time we need help. Thank you.
