Great service. Very communicative during entire process. Will definitely use service again.

Services by Hugh B Tighe III

Hugh is a fantastic mechanic! Unfortunately, my repair required multiple trips to my home to get all the necessary parts. Throughout the process Hugh kept me updated and ultimately fixed my daughter Jeep😁

I had an appointment with Al this week to replace drive belt tensioner. He replaced the tensioner fine - I have no issues with that! However, after replacing it he started the car and said the tensioner wasn't the problem - the alternator needs to be replaced. If I had told him the battery light was on, he would have known right away from the sound and the battery light. So, I get it - I share some responsibility - I didn't request the diagnostic service or specifically requested tensioner replacement. However, per your FAQ - "If our mechanic finds your car doesn’t need all the services you requested, we’ll remove those unneeded services and lower your bill, right on the spot. " Would it have been unreasonable to think Al would start the car before starting service - would have heard sound and seen battery light on, and determined service wasn't necessary? Now, if it was only that issue - ok, I'd only be a little peeved. However - some of his recommended services are incorrect - 1. Battery Light is on inspection - really? As he said it's because the alternator is bad?!? 2. Battery Terminal Ends Replacement - see attached photo. 10 seconds with a wire brush. 3. Battery Replacement - it's only 3 years old and there is no evidence of leaking. Holds charge and max voltage is fine. It's low because alternator! 4. Top off coolant - ok, yes. But Al said the radiator was completely empty and it would need 4 gallons. No - just the reservoir, which was 3/4 empty needed about a quart of coolant. So - basically I don't trust Al, and by proxy YourMechanic. That would have been the last time I ever used YourMechanic, except for being in a bind with a car that isn't working, so I have one last appointment. I hope this goes better, and it's too bad because the last few times I had used YourMechanic had been very positive - great service, price, honesty, and convenience.
