20 mins into appt I felt Steve the mechanic may have been in over his head because he looked like he didn’t have a clue so I asked him, if he couldn’t find the problem would I still be charged at which point he seemed a little insulted and assured me that wouldn’t be the case because he already had a idea what was wrong he just needed room to go through a check list of things to make sure he could confirm his diagnosis at which point I stepped back and let Steve continue his work. Ok fast forward and we are approximately 1 hr in and Steve says the problem was 1 or 2 things the engine had seized or their was some kinda short going on with the wiring, he stated the engine being seized was worse case scenario and that he was going to try to crank the engine manually and that would tell him what he needed to know which he proceeded to do with no result and his conclusion at that time was after checking everything else, my engine was seized and my best options other then getting some tow company to pay $150 bucks for parts would be a rebuild for 5 grand or taking a trip to PA and buying a used one which was what he said he would do when I asked him what he would do if it was his car. Anyway I told him I had called another mechanic for a second opinion because I wanted to be sure before I junked the car that the engine was really no good . Not only do I feel cheated out $70 bucks for being given a the wrong diagnosis. I’m angry that Steve totally misrepresented no he lied about how this appointment went. Steve claims he was pushed off the job so another mechanic could step in which I would put my hand on a Bible never happened. Steve said “ I’m finished I’m gonna finish typing up the report so you (the other mechanic) can do whatever you need to do”but for some reason all of a sudden got in such a rush he was about to leave without even packing his tools. So as I said my engine wasn’t seized at all but I did have to pay a real mechanic $250 in parts and labor to get the correct diagnosis and have my vehicle fixed right . Which was I needed to replace the starter on top of paying $70 for the wrong diagnosis, so no I’m sorry to say I wouldn’t recommend Your Mechanic or Steve for any future business
