What is the Horn all about?

The horn is normally located at the center of the steering wheel. It is used to make a vehicle’s presence known to pedestrians and other cars on the road.

Keep in mind:

  • A problem with the horn might just be a problem with the battery. Having the battery contacts cleaned may solve the issue.
  • A muffled horn can be just as bad as a broken horn.
  • Checking on the condition of the fuse box for the horn is important, to make sure dust and moisture are not present.

How it's done:

  • The vehicle hood is raised and secured in the open position
  • The battery is disconnected
  • The defective high or low horn is removed
  • A new horn is installed
  • The battery is reconnected and the horn tested for proper operation

Our recommendation:

A number of components can cause the horn to malfunction. The battery, the steering wheel, the horn itself, or the wires connecting it together could be to blame. Have one of our expert mechanics check it out and determine if any wires or connections should be replaced after a horn inspection is done.

What common symptoms indicate you may need to replace the Horn?

  • Muffled sound when horn is pressed
  • No sound when horn is pressed

How important is this service?

The horn is an important safety feature and a horn malfunction can have severe consequences if it leaves you unable to get the attention of other cars or pedestrians.

Toyota Prius L4-1.5L Hybrid - Battery - Hazel Park, Michigan
Claud did a wonderful job, I am super pleased with the service he provided. My battery is in the trunk area of my Prius hatchback. I had put the backseat down to clear out my returnables for him. He put my seats back up and put eveything back together...my car looked even tidier than before he got there.! He put air in one of my tires because he noticed it was low, and informed me of some upcoming minor maintenance to keep an eye on. Car is running great, didn't have to wait long for him to finish, and he was even early for the appointment.

Toyota Prius L4-1.5L Hybrid - Car is shaking or vibrating - San Jose, California
I had booked an appointment with Trung to take a look at a screeching sound coming from my front driver side tire. He took it for a test drive and 15 min later he had found the root of the problem and had fixed it. Overall excellent work! I recommend Trung to anyone looking for a great mechanic!

Door not unlocking

Hi there. This sounds like an issue with your vehicle's safety device malfunctioning.
