What is cleaning the throttle body all about?

In order to run efficiently and smoothly, your vehicle needs a fuel mixture that is a perfect combination of air and gas. The air intake system is responsible for providing the air part of this equation. The throttle body is the component of the air intake system that determines exactly how much air to let combine with the fuel. When the throttle body is dirty it’s unable to let the right amount of air into the engine.

Take the snorkle off the throttle body
Spray brake cleaner on the throttle plate
Scrub plate with a brush
Spray the brake cleaner again
Reconnect snorkle

Jeep Cherokee L6-4.0L - Check Engine Light is on - Orlando, Florida

Alfredo is an air force veteran, just like myself, so we immediately connected. Very knowledgeable mechanic, I suspected my O2 sensor was bad and Alfredo went through a full inspection to verify my o2 sensor is bad and which one. On top of the engine light inspection, he found I needed to replace my AC compressor which I had no idea was bad and also showed me where my steering pump was leaking from. Alfredo was more then welcoming in answering any questions I had, and after going to the auto store, I bought an O2 sensor, replaced it and the jeep is running like a champ again. Thanks!
