Mark was going to replace the transmission fluid and fix a torn rubber cover of the drive mode selection stick. Having opened up the car he realized that he got a wrong filter part for transmission. This was not his fault (apparently yourmechanic did not ). So Mark had to come again and do a lot of extra work (for no additional pay). He also tried to glue the torn rubber. Somehow he put far too much glue and glued together parts which prevented the drive selection stick from going into some modes. He also somehow managed to leave unremovable superglue on the steering wheel. When I contacted him he came to separate the accidentally glued parts. He managed to fix the sticking but as a result also the part which was supposed to be glued disconnected again. He then told me he is going to look into replacing the part. He did not get back for two weeks. After I reminded him he said he could not figure out the part and said he'll get back to me. But after another week I just went to the authorized dealer and got it fixed. I also checked online and the part was very easy to find on

This was my first time using Your Mechanic so, I was quite a bit skeptical. It took about an hour for Stefan to check out my car so, again, I am thinking he's probably finding a million things wrong and it's going to cost a fortune. Well, to my delight, he only found a couple of things - did not pressure me to let them do the work and even added I could wait a month or so to have the work done. After he left, I went online and my quote was waiting - I was astounded at the fair price I was quoted. I will definitely do business with them again and have ALREADY recommended to 2 friends of mine. VERY impressed!!

All about Serpentine/Drive Belt Replacement

The serpentine/drive belt or v-belt is a rubber belt that connects the alternator, power steering, and AC to the part of the engine (crankshaft) which transfers the power from the engine to those components. Without this belt, the battery will not get charged and none of the electrical accessory components in the car will work. The serpentine belt and v-belt are also known as "drive belts." Because of the high amount of heat in the engine, the belt can develop cracks over time and eventually break. If the belt breaks, the steering wheel will be difficult to turn and driving will be hazardous. In some cars, water pumps are driven by the drive belts. If the belt breaks, water and coolant needed to keep the engine cool will not properly flow to the engine. The engine will overheat, potentially causing severe damage.
