How Long Does a Fuel Hose Last?

Having the right amount of fuel in the combustion chamber of a vehicle is essential in making sure a car runs correctly. There are a variety of different components that are in charge of making sure that the fuel system stays functional. In order to get the gas from the fuel tank to the combustion chamber the fuel hoses will have to be operational. These hoses can be made of plastic, rubber or metal. The longer that the same fuel line stays on the car, the more of a chance there will be that it will have to be replaced. Each time the car cranks and runs, the fuel hoses will have transport the fuel to the combustion chamber.

These hoses can last anywhere from 10,000 to 50,000 miles depending on what they are made of. The metal variety of fuel lines will be able to withstand the harsh conditions of the engine much easier than the rubber hoses will. Taking the time to look at these hoses from time to time can help you to notice repair issues before they become too big of a problem. A properly working fuel hose is vital in ensuring that the right amount of gas is delivered to the combustion chamber.

Having issues with the fuel system of your car can be very dangerous, which is why getting the right fix is important. A faulty fuel hose can lead to gas being dispensed near the hot exhaust system and possibly causing a fire. The last thing that you want is to put yourself and your passengers in danger due to dragging your feet on getting the fuel hoses replaced.

The following are some of the things that you may notice when the fuel hoses on your car are in need of replacing.

  • There are puddles of gas under the car
  • There is a strong odor of gasoline
  • The car is very hard to start
  • The car will not start at all

Getting your car's fuel hose repaired in a hurry will help you to keep your car functional and safe. Letting a professional mechanic handle this type of repair is beneficial due to their ability to get the job done without mistakes.
