A decade after it debuted, the 2012 Lexus GS still hasn’t found a strong foothold in the sport-sedan market. However, this doesn’t mean you shouldn’t take a closer look. It’s much more affordable than competitors like the BMW 3 Series or Audi A4, yet it is still packed with all kinds of attractive features.
Key Features
The option of choosing all-wheel-drive on the 2012 Lexus GS is noteworthy. This version can provide 70% of the engine’s muscle to the back wheels under ordinary conditions. When driving on dry pavement, the proportional distribution won’t take away from the sportiness of your ride. Of course, when the road is wet or slick, you’ll feel the car become much more engaged.
Everyone will enjoy that the leather interior is standard on the 2012 GS.
While not strictly a feature, the price is extremely attractive. It’s one thing owners have brought up again and again: you get a lot of luxury without the kind of price tag you might expect.
Changes for 2012
The 2012 GS may look a lot like its predecessors, but Lexus actually gave it an updated appearance at the front and in the rear. You can also consider two new colors as well. To a lesser extent, the interior has been upgraded as well. All-wheel-drive is now an available option too.
What We Like
You have to love the refinement found inside the 2012 Lexus GS, especially when compared to other sport sedans. While it can’t compete with something like the BMW 3 series on the track, inside it’s definitely right up there.
What Concerns Us
This is definitely a small sedan. It has five seats, but you should really think of it as four or someone is going to be pretty uncomfortable in the back.
Also, if you live in a climate where traveling conditions are favorable year-round, a lot of the safety features that happen around the chassis probably won’t interest you much.
Available Models
There is only one model of the 2012 Lexus GS. It has a six-cylinder engine and offers wireless Bluetooth functionality. However, there is a sports package and all kinds of optional features you can add to the GS if you like. You can also go with a 5-liter V8.
