This was my first experience booking a mobile mechanic and I was a little dubious, but Chris was excellent in all phases of his performance. He arrived on time (actually a little early), did the analysis and identified the problem. He also went through my options, including ways for me to save some money by buying the parts from a Toyota dealer so I could get authentic Toyota parts. We agreed that I would do that and he would return when I called him to install the parts.

Jeffrey arrived on time and was a professional. He explained to me all that he was going to do based on the written quote from my Toyota Camry dealership for major repairs; axle/CV shaft assembly replacement; check brake; steering and suspension system; ; replace air filter; replace in-cabin air filter; power steering-return line leaking; power steering flush; brake fluid flush service; 3 stage engine decarb kit. He completed all of these service needs and the total charge was $868.58 vs. the quote of $1,635.58 from Toyota.

Tyrone saved my car and wallet! I had been getting a run-around from the dealer and a major auto center with VERY expensive estimates to fix my car, not to mention I've already wasted a lot of money and time on the same problem at the dealer; come to find out none of those work orders were necessary as Tyrone explained. The very next day after the repair, we made a 300-mile trip: NO problem. This proves his workmanship as well. "Bye, bye dealers, Hello YourMechanic!"

All about CV Axle / Shaft Assembly Replacement

Axle shafts are commonly referred to as “CV axles” or “half-shafts.” An axle shaft is a narrow, pole-like part that connects a wheel to the gears in the transmission. Axles are part of the system that enables the wheels to rotate. One end of the axle shaft is connected to the transmission and the other end is connected to the wheel. The transmission rotates the axle shafts, which rotates the wheels. Without the axles, the tires will not rotate and the car will not move. Axle shafts are comprised of four components: shaft, CV joints, grease and the boots (grease container). The most common reason for the axle to fail is because of the torn boots (grease leaking out). Without the grease, the CV joints will not get lubricated, dirt will enter the joint and the whole axle will eventually wear out.
