Cooling System Flush Service

What is the cooling system flush all about?

Your cooling system is what keeps your car from overheating. It works by circulating a mixture of water and coolant through the engine. Over time the coolant mixture becomes contaminated with scale and rust, which can clog and damage the cooling system components. A cooling system flush essentially flushes out the entire system of contaminants and replaces the coolant mixture with fresh coolant and water.

Keep in mind:

Your mechanic will drain the fluid, clean the system with coolant cleaner, and use water to remove the remaining coolant. After cleaning the system, the mechanic will fill it up with new coolant. This process is effective and an approved industry method of flushing your vehicle’s cooling system.

How it's done:

  • Install flush chemical to radiator
  • Bring the car to operating temperature
  • Drain the old coolant
  • Close valve and refill with water
  • Repeat the process
  • Fill radiator with a 50/50 mixture of coolant and water
  • Check for leaks and fan operation

Our recommendation:

  • Some vehicles are equipped with a low coolant sensing system. Should this light come on, have your vehicle inspected for leaks or other possible causes for the low coolant level.

  • Follow the service maintenance schedule provided by the manufacturer to get the coolant replaced at regular intervals. In general, it is a good practice to change the coolant every 40,000-50,000 miles.

What are the common symptoms indicating you need to flush the cooling system?

  • Check Engine warning light is on
  • Low Coolant warning light is on
  • Engine is overheating

How important is this service?

A cooling system flush is an important part of preventative maintenance and helps to keep your car healthy and on the road.

I just bought a 05 Impala v6 automatic. It's very used, and when I first started driving it, I did notice that the shifting felt like it was slipping. Also, the gear shirt bar that moves the lever is in bad shape. It was having a difficult time getting into 4th gear on the freeway drive home, so I used cruise control, thinking that would take some pressure off of the transmission. I don't know if that's relevant, just saying everything. I got off the freeway and stopped at a light . The car wouldn't move. I tried push starting it in neutral like you would a manual, apparently autos don't do that ( I really really hate auto trans and I don't know anything about them as a result). Then I turned the car off and started it up again. It drove for about 1/16 of a mile at about 4000 RPMs. I did that about 5 times til I just got home. I do have a quart of trans fluid and I was going to try flushing that, but it doesn't seem as simple as just slipping.

I just put new spark plug in my car with new spark plug caps for my 2004 chevy malibu classic but my car wont start? Someone help

Hi there. Assuming you correctly gaped the spark plugs as recommended by the manufacturer, and installed the plug wires correctly, it's likely that this is due to an electrical relay that may have been damaged (especially if you did not...
