Jamahl

Jamahl was professional and timely which are the two things I appreciate when receiving a service. He called in advance to let me there was an issue with traffic and he would be a few minutes late. He arrived and replaced my brake pads quickly and efficiently. He arrived 7:30 and the job was completed by 8:00 and I was on my way to work. I was hesitant about the come-to-you-mechanic theme, but I am on board now. I will use this service again and I recommend you give Jamahl a chance. I am spreading the word among my friends, neighbors and co-workers.

My best friend Austin had Russ replace his brakes on his Toyota Corolla and had a good experience. I decided to give YourMechanic a try and was happy to get the same mechanic. Russ did an excellent job. He was very informative about the whole process, took off unnecessary parts/labor I did not need, and got everything done in a timely fashion. Overall, Russ made my first experience with YourMechanic very positive. Thanks Russ!

All about Brake Pad Replacement

Depending on your car’s brake system, it may use between 4 to 8 brake pads. When you step on the brake pedal, the master cylinder sends fluid under pressure to the brake calipers (which hold the brake pads). The caliper presses the brake pad against the brake rotor, causing friction that slows down the car. During normal usage of the brakes, brake pads wear out and become thinner. If the thickness of brake pads is less than 3mm, it is time to change the pads. Depending on where you drive (city driving tends to wear pads out quicker) brake pads usually last between 30,000 to 35,000 miles. Some vehicles (e.g., BMWs) are equipped with a low-pad-warning system. In these vehicles, you will also need to replace the brake sensors as part of the brake pad service.
