Unless a vehicle is equipped with built-in massagers, the feel of vibrations coming through the driver’s seat can be an alarming experience. Luckily, there is a fairly limited number of components that would cause such an issue.

Common reasons for this to happen:

Seat is not fully secured to vehicle

Over time, bolts and hardware holding the seat to the vehicle can loosen or wear out. Sometimes this can be fixed with a few turns of a wrench, so it should be addressed immediately for comfort and to ensure the safety of the car is maintained.

Worn out suspension parts

The suspension in a vehicle performs the task of keeping everything smooth and level while traveling down the road. If any components malfunction, become loose, or bend, then the result may be vibrations in the vehicle. In the case of a vibrating driver’s seat, suspension components in the rear are a likely culprit. If the vibration gets worse when the road surface is rough, then this is probably the source of the problem.

Warped brake disks or drums

Brake disks or drums provide a surface for the brake pads to grip onto when the brakes are applied in order to stop the car. If the rotor or drum is warped in any way, then the friction provided to the brake pads is intermittent. This intermittent friction can cause vibrations and often sounds like the brake is slipping on the disk. Vibration that occurs only during braking is an indicator that this is the problem.

Unbalanced wheels

In order to rotate smoothly and evenly, wheels must be properly balanced. If something happens to the wheel or tire that disrupts the distribution of weight, violent shakes and vibrations can occur. If the vibration occurs consistently around a certain speed, then this is likely the issue.

What to expect:

A top-rated mobile mechanic will come to your home or office to determine the source and cause of the shaky or vibrating seat, and will then provide a detailed inspection report that includes the scope and cost of the necessary repairs.

How it's done:

The mechanic will ask about any recent potholes, bottom-outs, or collisions that the vehicle may have experienced. Following that, they will inspect the wheels, axles, and any driveshafts on the vehicle.

How important is this service?

There is a heightened importance with any problem that causes vibration in the vehicle. Vibration means that somewhere there is a component that is unbalanced. Unbalanced components will typically fail in motion and tend to carry a lot of inertia with them when they do. Small, inexpensive parts have the potential to damage far more expensive parts in these dynamic kinds of failures. Book a mechanic when the problem is first detected.

My appointment date 2/1/2016 The mechanic was hired to remove and replace and install the drive belts [3] to my 1990 P30 Chevy Motorhome 454cid @ 1.5hrs labor The mechanic arrived at the appointed time and did not have the correct replacement belt for the a/c & Power Steering The mechanic was not able to establish the correct belt code The mechanic agreed to use the customer's belt replacement for the a/c & power steer The mechanic installed all [3] belts The mechanic left the job and I was charged $155.25 to my Capital One Visa After The mechanic left it was discovered the a/c & power steer belt was installed incorrectly causing the belt to twist once the engine was running The mechanic returned 2/4/2016 to re-install the a/v & power steer belt After the second attempt the belt continued to twist after the mechanic had left the job The mechanic returned 2/9/2016 and was not able to locate the problem causing the drive belt to twist, he suggested that the a/c & power belt be replaced with another belt The mechanic then claimed he was not authorized to work on my motorhome yet when the appointment was made on January 30 the company was aware that the vehicle was a motorhome. February 10, 2016 I purchased a new a/c & power steer belt and installed the belt myself I spoke to Chris from Your Mechanic and made an official complaint and asked that my account be refunded minus the cost of parts as I did not receive the service I had paid for.
