What is the Air Injection Hose all about?

Some cars are equipped with an air injection system to reduce engine emissions. The air injection hoses inject extra air into the car’s exhaust system to convert C0 into C02. The air injection hoses deteriorate over time and need to be replaced.

Keep in mind:

When the air injection hose is replaced, the air pump should always be inspected.

How it's done:

  • Inspect the Air Injection Hoses.
  • Identify the hose that is cracked.
  • Replace the cracked hose.
  • Check the condition of the Air Pump.
  • Check valves and system hoses.

Our recommendation:

The air injection system should be inspected during routine maintenance and servicing. Any time you have a component of the air injection system replaced, the air injection hose should be checked. Air injection hoses can grow brittle and crack over time, so it’s important to have the system serviced and inspected with regularity.

What common symptoms indicate you may need to replace the Air Injection Hose?

  • Check Engine light may turn on.
  • Vehicle may not pass emissions test.

How important is this service?

An air injection system is responsible for injecting extra air into your vehicle’s exhaust system. The system pulls air from outside the vehicle, and pumps it through the air injection hose, and into the exhaust system, where it helps convert carbon monoxide into carbon dioxide. If your air injection hose breaks, the necessary amount of air will not be added into the car’s exhaust system. This is unlikely to result in an immediately noticeable change in your car, but it will lower the vehicle’s emissions. A cracked or broken air injection hose means your vehicle is polluting more, and is unlikely to pass an emissions inspection.

Mercedes-Benz CLS550 V8-5.5L - UberX Inspection and Oil Change Package - La Mirada, California
Mechanic called and said he was late and when he arrived he lfound out the supplier gave him the wrong filter, wrong type and not enough oil. He returned the following day. I think your supplier isnt paying enough attention to details. Bernard was very polite and I was pleased with his service. He was rather late, but the issue with the supplier could have been the clause. The whole process took 2 days and several extra hours of my time. Had l not been paying a promotional rate, I would have been angry. I dont think this was Bernards fault. I blame your supplier or your ordering system.
