What is the Gas Cap all about?

The purpose of a Gas Cap is twofold: one, it helps prevent dust and other particles from getting into the gas tank, and two, it helps prevent fuel emissions from entering the atmosphere. If your gas cap is faulty, the Check Engine light may come on. Additionally, your vehicle may fail a smog test if the gas cap is gone or not functioning properly.

How it's done:

  • Inspect the gas cap.
  • Pressure-test the gas cap.
  • Install new gas cap if faulty.

What common symptoms indicate you may need to replace the Gas Cap?

  • Check Engine light is on.
  • Car does not pass the emission test.
  • Gas Cap is missing.

Dodge Magnum V6-2.7L - Thermostat - Tulsa, Oklahoma
It was raining at my original appt time, so unfortunately my appt time was delayed. Mechanic was quick to reach out & come up with best solution for getting job done in timely manner. Was very knowledgable both about the job at hand and other diagnostics reports found during inspection. Did however take a lot longer than quoted timeframe for completion of task. Overall satisfied & would recommend.

Dodge Magnum V6-3.5L - Brake Rotor/Disc Replacement (Front) - Orlando, Florida
Jamahl is very professional and called and text ahead to ensure he will be there on time. Jamahl replaced my rotors and changed my wife's oil with such care. Jamahl also went over both cars very attentive to ensure the cars were running perfect. He also discovered an issue on my wife's car that I had no clue was there and gave great advice how much and how long to repair. I will from this point be coming back to Jamahl with my mechanics going forward. No pressure and very relaxing being at my home. Thanks Jamahl
