What is the Gas Cap all about?

The purpose of a Gas Cap is twofold: one, it helps prevent dust and other particles from getting into the gas tank, and two, it helps prevent fuel emissions from entering the atmosphere. Luis came out and replaced a Valve cover gasket and flushed the braking system fluids. When I booked the appointment the previous mechanic said I said I should replace the serpentine belt as well. Luis said that wasn't nesscessary as it was still new looking and had logos on it.
