Jose was able to determine that my Blazer's issue WAS related to my engine [as my original mechanic suspected]. That means that the initial mechanic, whom I scheduled through "Your Mechanic," misdiagnosed. He insisted it was the A/C compressor, leaving me hopeful [and paying for a second inspection for work that won't be economical for me to complete]. Jose examined my Blazer like a medical clinician would examine a person. He checked various areas under the hood, using a tool to listen & feel with, while the engine was running. He also had me do the same, so I could understand how he was able to quickly rule out where the problem WASN'T coming from. He determined it was coming from the back of the engine [what I was afraid of, from the start]. So, basically, the first inspection was a bust....which didn't leave me with much confidence in my pre-purchase inspection of the Subaru, done by the same mechanic. It's a shame, because I found him likable and he seemed honest. But I don't feel encouraged to use him again. Additionally, in discussing my friend's Subaru, that I am currently driving, I learned, from Jose, that the timing belt should be given a greater priority status than either of us were giving it. I will have to check with my friend, to be certain; but I will likely want to schedule maintenance with Jose soon. I work nights, but I could schedule in the morning....better yet, on a Thursday or Friday. But, again, I will wait have to wait for approval from the car's true owner [even though I was intending to pay for it, myself].

All about Ball Joint Replacement (Front)

Ball joints are a part of your vehicle's suspension system that connect the steering knuckles to the control arms. A ball joint is essentially a flexible ball and socket that allows the suspension to move and, at the same time, the wheels to steer. Cars and trucks will have multiple ball joint assemblies depending on their type of suspension system. Like any other suspension component, ball joints will eventually wear out and become loose. Excessive play in the joint can affect wheel alignment and tire wear. Loose joints can also cause suspension noise (typically a "clunking" sound when going over a bump). If a ball joint fails, the suspension can collapse, causing a loss of control of the vehicle.
