The 2012 Honda Accord has a lot to offer. From great fuel economy to comfortable features and a sleek, modern look, it’s no wonder so many people love the Accord. Though, unlike the Civic, Honda has yet to offer a hybrid Accord, this model still garners a lot of loyalty, thanks to its fuel efficiency, spacious interior, and style.
One of the most helpful and convenient features of the 2012 Honda Accord is actually also a safety feature, as well. The voice-controlled navigation system allows you to get updated directions and map displays without taking your hands off the wheel or your attention off the road. That’s not all, of course. In fact, the entire infotainment system in the 2012 Accord is a huge selling point with most drivers.
Changes for 2012
Starting in 2012, every Accord has a standard USB interface for the in-car infotainment center. Whether you get the base model or one of the higher-end models, you can plug in your phone, MP2 player, or any other mobile device and use it to play music, news, etc. while you drive.
What We Like
The 2012 Accord is one of the most attractive family sedans on the market today. It has the room and features that families and older drivers look for without losing the style and flair that attract younger drivers. We also love that it gets great gas mileage and can comfortably fit four adults without crowding anyone.
What Concerns Us
Though it generally has no trouble reaching highway speeds, some drivers claim that the Accord tends to hesitate when accelerating. While we don’t expect race car technology in a family sedan, we are concerned when we hear that a vehicle has difficulty accelerating under normal circumstances.
You have three engine choices for the 2012 Honda Accord, two inline four-cylinder engines and a V6 engine. Of the two four-cylinder engines, one has less horsepower but also qualifies as a PZEV (partial zero emissions vehicle). Both of these engines get 22 MPG in the city and 24 on the highway, whereas the V6 model has significantly more horsepower but only gets 20 MPG in the city and 20 MPG on the highway.
There is a chance that the driver-side and/or passenger-side curtain airbag inflators were not installed correctly on some 2012 models. These have been recalled for inspection and repair.
Most drivers have no problems with their Accords, but the most common issue in the 2012 model year seems to be a hesitation when accelerating. It’s definitely something to look for when test driving cars to buy.
