I was very happy with the service provided by Patrick. My AC was blowing out hot air. I had been told by Doctor Auto that I needed a new compressor, which was going to be quite expensive. Luckily, I decided to call Your Mechanic. Patrick was very knowledgeable, friendly and courteous. He called a few days before the appointment to ask a few questions so he could be sure to bring the right parts. He arrived on time on the day of the appointment, then spent some time to do a thorough check of the AC system, and informed me that he did not believe I needed a compressor. He fixed a slow leak, did an AC recharge and then added refrigerant. The AC is now blowing very cold air, and he fixed it for a fraction of what I was told by Doctor Auto. I will definitely call Patrick again for future repairs, and would highly recommend him.
he was prompt, pleasant to deal with and very thorough. Drove tested vehicle before release and gave me approximations on remaining brake pads without asking. Excellent work.

David is as advertised, experienced, and professional. I've used this service repeatedly and David not only takes care of your job, but will follow up with you afterwards to make sure everything is how you want it. It's great to have a mechanic with his level of experience come to you, when you would have to pay a premium to get that expertise elsewhere. The best part about David is he's willing to explain why you have the problem, and how you can prevent it in the future (if it can be). I highly recommend David, if he gets put on your car you're in great hands, he's honest, quick, and thorough.

Car AC Repair Service

What to Expect:

For an AC system to work, it needs a gas or liquid substance called refrigerant (R-12 in older cars, R-134a in 1995 and newer cars). Over time, refrigerant can leak from the AC system through seals. If the AC does not have enough refrigerant, it will not blow cold air.

Keep in mind:

Since the AC system is a sealed unit, the only way to tell if the car needs a recharge is if the AC is not blowing cold air through the vents. There are two types of refrigerant. These cannot be interchanged. For older cars, it should be filled with R12 refrigerant or converted to a newer system. For cars made after 1995, the AC should be filled with R134a.

How it's done:

  • Install air conditioning manifold gauge set.
  • Determine if the air conditioning system charge is low.
  • Add the correct refrigerant to top off the air conditioning system.
  • Install thermometer in vents to monitor vent temperatures.
  • Check system for leaks.
  • Check for proper operation of AC system.

Our recommendation:

It is common for refrigerant to leak. If the AC is not as cold as you expect, then it is probably a good time to have the mechanic look at it. Lack of proper cold air can be an indication of other problems with AC (fan not working, AC compressor not working, etc.).

What are the common symptoms indicating you need an Car AC Repair?

  • AC is not working.
  • AC is not blowing cold air.
  • Clicking noise from the engine compartment.

How important is this service?

In addition to your comfort, air conditioning systems add value to your vehicle. You should keep your AC fully operational. In some systems, the hot and cold air are blended to achieve the desired temperature setting. In these cases, when the AC system fails, in addition to not getting any cold air, the entire temperature regulation can be thrown off.
