The clutch hose is the one and only flexible line within the hydraulic clutch system. It works in conjunction with your clutch slave cylinder to deliver fluid to the clutch. The clutch system is bled of air and removed from the jack stands
The vehicle is road tested for proper clutch operation

He spotted the deteriorated hose. He pointed out the transmission oil was low. But speculation about other possible causes wasn't believable. I replaced all the hoses and added oil but problem remains.
