Dave is the man you can trust! Replaced my front brake pads and rotors in about half hour. When I ask him about the problem with my HID headlights, he is so nice to guide me to buy bulbs from amazon and when delivered I can schedule with him to come and replace the bulbs. A nice thing with YourMechanic is that, you will automatically get assigned with the same mechanic when you schedule services again with them, because you've built connection with your mechanic, assuming the connection is good:) It is so great to have Dave as our mechanic.

Jay is a very proficient mechanic. He arrived slightly ahead of schedule ready to do the job at hand. He was thorough and pleasant to work with. I look forward to seeing him again with other projects. I would not hesitate to have him back to work on my vehicles.

Had an amazing first experience with Tom. I've already told my neighbor, my brother, and my Dad they need to start using him. Did an incredible professional job, even stepped me through the process so I can do it myself next time. It was very reassuring watching Tom work and seeing everything come apart and put back together with the new parts. YourMechanic is the opposite of everything that is wrong with the typical mechanic shop. Car drives perfectly now and buying my own parts and having Tom install them saved me a big chunk of change.

All about Brake Pad Replacement

Depending on your car’s brake system, it may use between 4 to 8 brake pads. When you step on the brake pedal, the master cylinder sends fluid under pressure to the brake calipers (which hold the brake pads). The caliper presses the brake pad against the brake rotor, causing friction that slows down the car. During normal usage of the brakes, brake pads wear out and become thinner. If the thickness of brake pads is less than 3mm, it is time to change the pads. Depending on where you drive (city driving tends to wear pads out quicker) brake pads usually last between 30,000 to 35,000 miles. Some vehicles (e.g., BMWs) are equipped with a low-pad-warning system. In these vehicles, you will also need to replace the brake sensors as part of the brake pad service.
